Last week I finished my experience with the first book of the Outlander series, by Diana Gabaldon. It was simply amazing. I don't know if you'll like it, if you'll hate it or why should you read it, but I loved Claire and Jamie and decided to make this little something in their honour ^-^
I haven't found many Outlandish art, and not many that satisfy me anyway. So... well, this is my contribution.
And I haven't found one Jamie art that I love. No one is like I picture him. That's one of the reasons why I don't want it to be made a movie or series: they will never be able to find the right actor. They'll choose either one that is too old, or one that is NOT red-haired, like Gerard Butler *roll eyes* That would make me really very mad.
Do you have any young and red-haired actor in mind?
To the ones who know about this timeless passion, please let me know what do you think!
The main trouble I had with this manip was that the young Scot model had too many shadows on his back :/ I tried to fix it as well as I could, so as the difference with Claire wouldn't be so noticeable. If it still is, then... consider it a metaphore about the light Claire carries about and the darkness of Jamie's life
I really like how the scars on Jamie's back turned out. I wasn't sure about adding more. And Claire's hair should be bushier, but it came out nice enough, and that's important (it's awfully hard to turn straight hairs to curly ones and make it right; I'm having the same problem with Hermione).
I wanted to make it look as though it was a painting rather than a photograph, it's the style I generally prefer (makes me feel like an artist! xD)
This should be shortly after their wedding, perhaps a scene from One Fine Day, or We Meet a Beggar
So Jamie's hands (and other parts of his body) are all right, and Claire only carries her gold ring.

The quote in the title is from the poem "Out of Catallus" by Richard Crashaw, a fragment of which is in the book and one of the loveliest things I've ever read. I'd have rather entitled this as "And lose ourselves in wild delight", because it suits them better, but it was too long.

I know what you mean about casting the wrong characters for books. If they did Outlander, only A&E could make it into a miniseries like they did Pride and Prejudice. And instead of getting a famous name, pick someone who hasn't been in much, but is a great actor.
